About Conejo Valley Reading Lab

At Conejo Valley Reading Lab, we provide highly specialized, evidence based reading instruction tailored to each child’s unique learning profile. Our approach is grounded in the Orton-Gillingham methodology and the Science of Reading, offering expert support for all children, including students with dyslexia, autism, and other learning differences. Each student receives individualized, one-on-one instruction with ongoing progress monitoring to ensure meaningful, lasting growth. We combine research-based practices with a calm, supportive environment where students build both essential reading skills and confidence.

Elyse Martin

I’m a credentialed teacher with over 15 years of experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. I’m a credentialed teacher with over 15 years of experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with BCLAD authorization and have advanced training in both Orton-Gillingham and the Science of Reading, allowing me to provide structured, evidence-based instruction tailored to each student.

I currently teach at Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education, where I serve on the Instructional Leadership Team and Data Team. In these roles, I work collaboratively to review student progress and help guide instructional decisions, particularly in reading.

Before becoming a classroom teacher, I worked as an ABA therapist at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, supporting children with autism through individualized, research-based strategies. This experience continues to shape my approach and allows me to meet each student with patience, flexibility, and care.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco on a partial academic scholarship and completed my teaching credential through CSUN and UCLA.

Through my Reading Lab, I work with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, supporting both the development of foundational reading skills and the growth of advanced comprehension and writing. Each session is thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are, with ongoing assessment to ensure steady, measurable progress over time.
